A rectangle plot of land is $300m$ long and $50m$ broad. $3$ meters wide running midway within it one parallel to the lens to the breadth. Find the area of the roads. Also calculate the roads at $Rs.50$ per square metre.

Given that the paths are $3m$ on each side and goes across to the center of the opposite side. So, basically we have on one side a rectangle of length $300m$ and width $3m$ whose area is $A_1=300\times 3=900m^2$

and on another side a rectangle of length $50m$ and width $3m$ whose area is $A_2=50\times 3=150m^2$

One important note, the area of the central part has been included twice, so it has to be subtracted from the total area covered by the path.

$\therefore$ Total area $=900+150-(3\times 3)$

$=1050-9$

$=1041m^2$

The cost of paving the road at $Rs.50$ per square meter is $=Rs.1041\times 50$

$=Rs.52050$

Hence, the answer is $Rs.52050.$
