Given,
Percentage increase in length of rectangular block = 0.1 %
Fractional change in lengthΔll=0.001
Change in temperature (ΔT)=100C
For linear expansion, we know that,
Δll=α ΔT
From the data given in the question, we can write that,
0.001=α×100
α=105/C
Further, for a solid material, we know that
γ=3α
γ=3×105/C
To find percentage change in volume for a small change in temperature ΔT:
We know from volume expansion that,
ΔVV=γ×(ΔT)
