A rectangular field is $42m$ long and $38m$ wide. If raman runs around the field twice, find the distance he covers.

Finding the distance covered by raman:

Given the length of rectangle is 42 m

The breadth of rectangle is 38 m

Then perimeter of the rectangle is $2(l+b)$

$$\begin{gathered} \mathrm{Perimeter}\mathrm{of}\mathrm{the}\mathrm{rectangle}=2(42+38) \\ =2\times 80 \\ =160m \end{gathered}$$

One complete rotation takes the distance of $160m$

Raman runs the field twice i.e., he completes two complete rotation

Then the distance covered by raman will be

$$\begin{gathered} =2\times 160(twotimesonecompleteroatation) \\ =320m \end{gathered}$$

Hence, the distance covered by raman will be $320m$
