Question

A rectangular field is 42m long and 38m wide. If raman runs around the field twice, find the distance he covers.

Solution

Finding the distance covered by raman:

Given the length of rectangle is 42 m

The breadth of rectangle is 38 m

Then perimeter of the rectangle is 2(l+b)

Perimeteroftherectangle=2(42+38)=2×80=160m

One complete rotation takes the distance of 160m

Raman runs the field twice i.e., he completes two complete rotation

Then the distance covered by raman will be

=2×160(twotimesonecompleteroatation)=320m

Hence, the distance covered by raman will be 320m
