Question

A rectangular glass container 30 cm by 20 cm by 50 cm is 45 filled with water. Some of the water is poured into 2 identical tins to their brims. 14 L of water is then left in the glass container. Find the height of each tin if each has 25 cm square base.

The correct option is C 8 cm
The volume of the container
=V= length × breadth × height
=30 cm ×20 cm ×50 cm
Vwater=30 cm ×20 cm ×50 cm ×45
=24000c.c
=24 l
Water remained =14 l
So, water in the two containers =(2414)l=10l.
i.e the volume of water in each container =102l=5 l=5000c.c.
Now area base of the small container
= 25 cm ×25 cm
heghit =volumebasearea
=5000c.c25cm×25cm.=8 cm
So, height of the small containers =8 cm.
