A rectangular grassy plot is $75m$ long and $60m$ broad. It has a path of width $2m$ all ground it on the inside. Find the area of the path and the cost of constructing it at $Rs.125per{m}^2$.

Length of plot $BC=75m$

Breadth of plot $DC=60m$

Area of plot $ABCD=l\times b$

$=75\times 60=4500m^2$

Now,

Length of $GH=75-2\times 2=71m$

Breadth of $FH=60-2\times 2=56m$

Are of $EFGH=71\times 56=3976m^2$

Therefore,

Area of path $=$ Area of $ABCD-$ Area of $EFGH$

$=4500-3976$

$=524m^2$

Cost of construction $=524\times 124=Rs.64,976$
