Question

A rectangular loop of wire of size $$4 cm \;\times\;10 cm$$ carries steady current of 2 A. A straight long wire carrying 5 A current is kept near the loop as  shown. If the loop and the wire are coplanar, find the magnetic flux through the rectangular loop.

Solution

Given,

$$I=3A$$

$$s=1cm$$

$$w=4cm$$

$$l=10cm$$

$$\mu_0=4\pi\times10^{-7}N/m^2$$

The magnetic flux though the rectangular loop,

       $$\phi_B=\dfrac{\mu_0Il}{2\pi}ln(\dfrac{s+w}{s})$$

      $$\phi_B= \dfrac{4\pi \times10^{-7}\times3\times10\times10^{-2}}{2\pi} ln(\dfrac{1+4}{1})$$

     $$\phi_B=9.6\times 10^{-8}Wb$$
