A rectangular piece is 20 m long and 15 m wide. Form its four corners, quadrants of radii 3.5 m have been cut. Find the area of the remaining part.

Here, l=20m,b=15cm,r=3.5m and θ=90o

Area of rectangle =l×b=(20×15)m2=300m2

Area of a quadrant =θ360o×πr2

Area of a quadrant =90o360o×227×3.5×3.5

Area of a quadrant =9.625m2

Area of 4 quadrant =4×9.625=38.5m2

Area of remaining part = Area of rectangle - Area of 4 quadrant

Area of remaining part =(30038.5)m2=261.5m2
