A rectangular plot 30 m long and 18 m wide is to be covered with grass leaving 2.5 m all around it. Find the area to be laid with grass.
Rectangular plot is 30 m long and 18 m wide
Area of rectangle = length × breadth
Area of rectangular plot
=30×18
=540 m2
Leaving 2.5 m from each side means 2×2.5=5 m
On substract 5 m from each side
New length on which grass to be laid =30−5=25 m
New breadth =18−5=13 m
So, grass is covered on 25 m long and 13 m wide plot
Area to be laid with grass =25×13=325 m2
