A rectangular plot $30 m$ long and $18 m$ wide is to be covered with grass leaving $2.5 m$ all around it. Find the area to be laid with grass.

Rectangular plot is $30 m$ long and $18 m$ wide
Area of rectangle $=$ length $\times$ breadth
Area of rectangular plot
$= 30 \times 18$
$= 540 m^{2}$
Leaving $2.5 m$ from each side means $2 \times 2.5 = 5 m$
On substract $5 m$ from each side
New length on which grass to be laid $= 30 - 5 = 25 m$
New breadth $= 18 - 5 = 13 m$
So, grass is covered on $25 m$ long and $13 m$ wide plot
Area to be laid with grass $= 25 \times 13 = 325 m^{2}$
