Question

A rectangular sheet of paper 66cm×20cm is rolled along its length to form a cylinder. Find the volume of the cylinder so formed.

Open in App
Solution

The volume of the cylinder = pi*r*r*h

The sheet is rolled along the length so the circumfarance of the base will be 20
that is,
2*pi*r = 20
r = 10/pi
So the volulme = pi * r * r * h
= pi * 10/pi * 10/pi * 66 (height = 60cm)
= 6600/pi (pi = 3.14)
= 6600/3.14
= 2101.9 cm^2
