160 Rs can buy $\frac{160}{x}$ kg of salt at the original price.

160 Rs can buy $\frac{160}{0.80x}$ kg of salt at the reduced price

$\frac{160}{x}+2.5=\frac{160}{0.80x}$

$x=\frac{40}{2.5}=16$

Original price was $16$ Rs per kg.
