A regular hexagon of side 10 cm has a charge 5 μC at each of itsvertices. Calculate the potential at the centre of the hexagon.

Given: The charge is 5μC and the side of regular hexagon is 10cm.

Potential at the centre of hexagon given as,

V= 6×q 4π ε 0 r

Where, potential at the centre of hexagon is V, charge at each vertex is q, permittivity of free space is ε 0 distance of each vertex from the centre is r.

By substituting the given values in the above equation, we get

V= 6×9× 10 9 ×5μC×( 1C 10 6 μC ) 10cm×( 1m 100cm ) =2.7× 10 6 V

Thus, potential at the centre of hexagon is 2.7× 10 6 V.
