Question

A resistor of resistance R is connected to an ideal battery. If the value of R is decreased, then the power dissipatedb in the resistor will?

Solution

in such a circuit the potential difference across the resistor is constant as it is provided by an external battery which is untouched.
SO the power dissipated in terms of potential difference is given as: V2/R
so if R is decreased keeping V constant so the power dissipated will increased.
