The ratio exists between the volume of carbon dioxide released to the volume of the oxygen taken in during the oxidation of organic substance at constant temperature and pressure is called Respiration Quotient. C51H98O6 is the molecular formula of Tripalmitin. During the oxidation of Tripalmitin, 145O2 molecules are utilised and 102CO2 molecules are released. The Respiratory quotient is 0.7 i.e. less than one.
