Solution

Let ABCD be a rhombus having each side equal to x cm.
i.e, AB = BC = CD = DA = x cm
Given, perimeter of a rhombus = 40
AB + BC + CD + DA = 40
x + x + x + x = 40
4x = 40
x=404
x=10 cm

In ΔABC,
let a = AB = 10 cm, b = BC = 10 cm and c = AC = 12 cm

Now, semi-perimeter of
ΔABC, s=a+b+c2
=10+10+122=322=16cm
Area of ΔABC=s(sa)(sb)(sc) by Herons formula
=16(1610)(1610)(1612)
=16×6×6×4=4×6×2=48 cm2
Area of the rhombus = 2(Area of ΔABC)=2×48
=96 cm2
The cost of painting a sheet of 1 cm2 = ₹ 5
The cost of painting a sheet of 96 cm2=96×5= 480
Hence, the cost of painting the sheet on both sides = 2 × 480 = ₹ 960
