A ring is made of a wire having a resistance R0=12 Ω. Find the points A and B as shown in the figure, at which a current carrying conductor should be connected so that the resistance R of the sub-circuit between these points is equal to 83 Ω.

The correct option is D l1l2=12
Ring is divided into l1​ and l2.
Let resistance is R1​ for length l1​ and R2​ for length l2​.
Now, as per the problem
R1R2R1+R2=83 and
R1+R2=12R1R2=32
Now, we know that
R1R2=(R1+R2)24R1R2
=1224×32=4 Ω

So, R1=4 Ω and R2=8 Ω
Hence, l1l2=R1R2=48=12
