Question

A ring rotates about z axis as shown in figure. The plane of rotation is xy. At a certain instant the acceleration of a particle P(shown in figure) on the ring is (6^i8^j)m/s2. Find the angular acceleration of the ring & the angular velocity at that instant. Radius of the ring is 2m.

Let angular velocity is ω and angular acceleration is α
Given acceleration in tangential direction, at=6m/s2 and centripetal acceleration, ar=8m/s2
at=Rα 6=2α α=3rad/s2
ar=Rω2 8=2ω2 ω=2rad/s
