A ring with radius 4 m is hinged at point P. Two forces F1 and F2, each of magnitude 10 N acts on the Ring. Find the ratio of the torques produced by two forces F1 to F2 is
2:1
Given,
Radius of ring r = 4 m
Force F1 = 10 N
Force F2 = 10 N
Torque due to force= Force × perpendicular distance between line of action of force and axis of rotation
Perpendicular distance of point of rotation P from the Force F1 is d1=8 m while that from force F2 is d2=4 m
Torque T1 produced by F1 = d1×F1 = 8×10 = 80 N m
Torque T2 produced by F2 = d2×F2 = 4×10 = 40 N m
Ratio of torques T1T2 = 21
