The correct option is B 51kN/m2

Effective stress = Total stress - Pore water pressure

¯¯¯σ=σu ...(i)

Total stress at A,

σ=5γw+5γsat

= 5 × (9.81 + 20)

= 149.05 kN/m2

Pore water pressure

u = (5 + 5) γw

= 10 × 9.81

= 98.1 kN/m2

From (i)

σ=149.0598.1

=50.95 kN/m2
