Question

A rocket is in the shape of a cone mounted on a right circular cylinder, their common base diameter is 8 cm. The height of cylindrical and conical shapes are 6 cm and 3 cm respectively. Find the volume of the rocket.

Open in App
Solution

For conical part,
Diameter, d=8 cm
Radus, r=4 cm
Height, h=3 cm

Volume of conical part=13πr2h=13π(4)2(3)=16π cm3

For cylindrical part,
Diameter, d=8 cm
Radus, r=4 cm
Height, h=3 cm

Volume of cylindrical part=πr2h=π(4)2(6)=96π cm3

Hence, the total volume of the rocket will be,
Volume of rocket = Volume of conical part + Volume of cylindrical part
=16π+96π
=112 cm3
