A rod of mass m and length l lying on a smooth horizontal table is rotating in the horizontal plane about a vertical axis passing through one end of the rod as shown in the figure. Find the force applied by the hinge on the rod.

Force applied by hinge on the rod is given by:
$F = m r ω^{2}$
This force is provided by tension in the rod
$⟹ T = m l ω^{2}$
