Finding the number of tiles required to cover the room

Length of the room $=13.6\text{m}$

Breadth of the room $=6.4\text{m}$

Area of the room $=\text{Length×Breadth}$

$$\begin{gathered} =13.6\times 6.4 \\ =87.04{\text{m}}^2 \end{gathered}$$

Also,

Side of the square tile $=80\text{cm}$

Area of the square tile $=\text{side×side}$

$$\begin{gathered} =80\times 80 \\ =6400{\text{cm}}^2 \end{gathered}$$

Now, we convert area of the room in ${\text{cm}}^2$

We know that $1\text{m=100 cm}$

So, area of the room in $\text{cm}$ $=87.04\times 100\times 100=870400{\text{cm}}^2$

Number of tiles $=\text{area of the room ÷area of 1 tile}$

$$\begin{gathered} =\frac{870400}{6400} \\ =136 \end{gathered}$$

Hence, number of tiles to cover the room is $136$
