A room is 13 m long and 9m broad. Find the cost of carpeting the room with a carpet 75 cm broad at the cost of 50 per metre

Open in App
Solution

Length of room (l) = 13 m
Breadth of room (b)= 9 m

Breadth of carpet= 75 cm = 75/100= .75 m

[ 1 cm = 1/100]

Area of room = length × breadth

Area of room = 13×9
= 117 m²

Let Length of required carpet be x m

Area of carpet = x × .75
= .75x m²

Area of carpet = area of room

.75x = 117

x = 117 /.75 = 11700/75
= 156

Length of carpet = 156 m

Cost of carpeting 1 m
= ₹ 50

Cost of carpeting 156 metre squre= 156 × 50
= ₹ 7800

Hence, the cost of carpeting = ₹7800
