A room is $30$ metres long and $18$ metres wide. If a carpet whose width is $2$ meters and which costs Rs. $50$ per metre is spread on the floor of the room what will be the total cost?

Area of the room $=30m\times 18m=540m^2$

The carpet which will cover this area should also have the same area that of the length of the carpet to cover the whole area of the room

$=540÷2=270m$

$\therefore$ Cost of the carpet $=Rs.270\times 50$

$=Rs13500$
