A room is 4 m long and 3 m 50 cm wide. How many square meters of carpet are needed to cover the floor of the room?

Length of the given room = length of the floor = 4 m.
We know,
1 m=100 cm1 cm=1100 m1 cm=0.01 m

Breadth of room = breadth of the floor = 3 m 50 cm = 3.50 m

Since Area f the carpet needed to cover the floor of the room = Area of the floor of the room
= length of the floor × breadth of the floor
= 4 m×3.50 m=14 m2.

Hence, 14 sq meters of carpet is needed to cover the floor of the room.
