A rope of length 10 m 20 cm is to be divided into three pieces whose length are in the ratio 4:6:7. Find the length of each piece.

Length of rope $=\text{10 m 20 cm}=10.20m$

Let the length of pieces after the rope is divided be $4x,6x$ and $7x$.

Now according to the question,

$4x+6x+7x=10.20m$

$\Rightarrow 17x=10.20m$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{10.20}{17}=0.60$

Therefore,

Length of piece are-

$4x=4\times 0.60=2.40m=\text{2 m 40 cm}$

$6x=6\times 0.60=3.60m=\text{3 m 60 cm}$

$7x=7\times 0.60=4.20m=\text{4 m 20 cm}$

Hence the legnth of each of the three part of the rope are $\text{2 m 40 cm},\text{3 m 60 cm}$ and $\text{4 m 20 cm}$respectively.
