A saree $6m$ long and $1.5m$ wide has boarder of width $25cm$ along each of its sides. Find the total area of the border.

Area of saree = $l\times b=1.5\times b=9m^2$

Width of the Border = $\frac{25}{100}m=0.25m$

Border is along all its side and it is forming a rectangle in the saree leasing border.

So the width will be $1.5-0.50=1m$

Length $=6-0.50=5.5m$

Area of rectangle $=1\times 5.5=5.5m^2$

Area of border $=$ area of saree $-$ area of rectangle

$=9-5.5$

$=3.5sq.m$
