Question

A satellite moves round the earth in a circular orbit of radius R making one revolution per day. A second satellite moving in a circular orbit, moves round the wrath once in 8 days. The radius of the orbit of the of the second satellite is?

Solution

It is not 1/(1/8)
it is 1/8
Sorry for making mistake
time period of first satalite with radius R is 1 day
satalite that we want to find the radius have a time period of 8 days
so 1/8=(R/r)^3/2
by solving this we will get r=4R

or simply we know that T^2 is directly propotional to R^3
so as the time period increases, then the radius also increases
