Question

A scarlet compound (A) is treated with conc. HNO3 to give a choclate brown precipitate (B). The precipitate is filtered and the filtrate is neutralised with NaOH. Addition to KI to the resulting solution gives a yellow precipitate (C). The precipitate (B) on warming with conc.HNO3 in the presence of Mn(NO3)2 produces a pink-coloured solution due to the formation of (D). Compounds (A), (B), (C) and (D) are identified as Pb3O4, PbO2, PBl2 and HMnO4(pink)

If the given statement is true enter 1 else enter 0.

Solution

The scarlet compound (A) is Pb3O4 . It is treated with conc. HNO3 to give a choclate brown precipitate (B) of PbO2. Pb3O4+4HNO32Pb(NO3)2+2PbO2+2H2O
The precipitate is filtered and the filtrate is neutralised with NaOH. Addition to KI to the resulting solution gives a yellow precipitate (C). which is PBl4 PbO2+4KIPBl4+2K2O
The precipitate PbO2 on warming with conc.HNO3 in the presence of Mn(NO3)2 produces a pink-coloured solution due to the formation of (D) which is HMnO4
5PbO2+6HNO3+2Mn(NO3)2HMnO4+2H2O+5Pb(NO3)2
