A school awarded 42 medals in hockey , 18 in basketball and 23 in cricket. if these medals are bagged by a total of 65 students and only 4 students got medals in all the three sports; find

1) How many students received medals in exactly two of the three sports?

2) How many students received medals in exactly one of the three sports?

Explaination…

Total medal =42+18+23=83

Total students=65

4 students got medal in all 3 games..(means 12 medals are taken…)

Remaing medals =83–12=71

Remaing studends=61

Here if 51 students got 1 medal then

Remaing medals =71–51=20

Remaing students=61–21=10


10×2=20; therefore 10 students got 2 medals.

there fore 20/10

(2) 51 students get single medals.
(1) 10 students get double medals
