Area of Hall PQRS $= 22 \times 15.5 = 341 m^{2}$ $[∵$ Area of a rectangle $=$ length $\times$ breadth $]$
Legth of carpet ABCD $= 22 - 2 \times .75 = 20.5 m$
Breadth of carpet ABCD $= 15.5 - 2 \times .75 = 14 m$
$∴$ Area of carpet ABCD $= 20.5 \times 14 = 287 m^{2}$
Area of strip $=$ Area of Hall PQRS $-$ Area of the carpet ABCD $= 341 - 287 = 54 m^{2}$
