Solution

Seed dormancy:

  1. A seed is provided with all the conditions necessary for germination. Yet it fails to germinate, this is because the seed is in a state of dormancy.
  2. Seed dormancy is a state in which seeds are prevented from germinating even under the favorable environmental conditions for germination including, temperature, water, light, gas, and seed coats.
  3. A dormant seed is a seed that is in the state of apparent inactivity and which will not start to grow, even if favourable conditions are provided until a definite time has elapsed.
