A sherical mirror forms three times magnified Real image of an object placed in front of it. If the focus is situated at a distance of 9 cm from the pole, calculate how far the image is situated. What type of mirror is used?

Ans:
m=-3
(image is real.so inverted.inverted image as -ve m)

m= v/u
m= -3
1/u = -3/v

f =-9
(f is in left side of pole taken as -ve)

we know that,
1/u + 1/v = 1/f

-3/v + 1/v = 1/-9

-2/v = 1/-9

v = 18cm.

The concave mirror will produce magnified image and the object will look much bigger than that of the actual size of the object.
therefore mirror is concave mirror.
