A ship sends out ultrasound that returns from the seabed and is detected after 10 s. If the speed of ultrasound through seawater is 1578 m/s, what is the distance of the seabed from the ship?

let distance between ship and seabed is d.

So time travelled is for 2d.

Therefore 2d=speed×time=1578×10=15780m

d= $\frac{15780}{2}$ =7890m
