Given: Printed price of washing machine $=$ Rs. $18, 000$ , Rate of discount $= 10 %$ .
Total cost to the consumer (exclusive of sales tax) $= 18, 000 - (\frac{10}{100} \times 18, 000) = 18, 000 - 1, 800 =$ Rs. $16, 200$
Total amount paid by the consumer (inclusive of tax) $= 16, 200 + (\frac{8}{100} \times 16, 200) =$ Rs. $17, 496$
