Solution

Dear Student,

Profit earned from selling one apple = Rs. 3 = +3Loss incurred on selling an orange = Rs. 2 = -2Let the number of oranges sold by shopkeeper = xDuring October, the shopkeeper sold 12 apples, so he made profit of Rs. 12 × 3 = Rs. 36The shopkeeper incurred a loss of Rs. 6 = -6So, 36 - 2x = -6 42 = 2x x = 21Thus, the shopkeepers sold 21 oranges in October.
