Solution

Dear Student,
Solution)
(i) Overall Profit Or Loss = - Rs.5
45 pens means profit of Rs 45
Now,
no of pencils sold price of pencils = Rs. [45-(-5)] = Rs. 45+5 = Rs50
So, she sold pencils at a loss of Rs. 50
No. of pencils = (50/0.40) = 125
Therefore,
she sold 125 pencils.

(ii) Profit Or Loss Incurred = Rs. 0
Now , 70 pens means profit of Rs 70
and
cost price of pencils = 70 - 0 = Rs.70
No of pencils = (70/0.40) = 175
Thus,she sold 175 pencils.
