Solution

Sale Price of an article including S.T.
= Rs. 21384
Rate of Sales Tax = 10%
Actual price = Total price×100(100+ST
= 21384×100100+10
= 21384×100110=Rs.19440
In second case, rate of sales tax = 8%
S.P. = Rs. 19440×(100+8)100
= Rs. 19440×108100
= Rs. 2099520100=Rs.20995.20
Extra profit = Rs. 21384 - Rs. 20995.20
= Rs. 388.80
