A shopkeeper sold two bats at ₹6000 each. He makes a profit of 10% on one bat and a loss of 5% on the other bat. Find his overall profit or loss.
Profit of 300 rupees
Cost price of each bat = ₹6000
1st Bat
Profit = 10% of ₹ 6000
= 10100×6000=₹600
Selling Price = Cost price + Profit
= ₹(6000 + 600)
= ₹6600
So, he sold one bat for ₹6600.
2nd Bat
Loss = 5% of ₹6000
= 5100×6000
= ₹300
Selling Price = Cost price - Loss
Selling Price = ₹(6000 - 300)
= ₹5700
Total Cost Price = ₹(6000 + 6000) = ₹12000
Total Selling Price = ₹(6600 + 5700) = ₹12300
The total selling price is greater than the total cost price.
∴ overall profit = 12,300 - 12,000 = ₹300
