Dear Student,
Bauxite is one of the few major Non-Ferrous minerals available in India. It is a clay like substance from which alumina and later aluminium is obtained. Its deposits are formed from a variety of rocks rich in aluminium silicates. Aluminium is found majorly in Bauxite and is important as when combined with other metals, provides lightness, good conductivity and malleability. In India, it is majorly found in Amarkantaka Plateau, Maikal hills, Plateau region of bilaspur-katni and panchpatmali in koratput district. Around 35% of total bauxite in India is found in Orissa.
