Collenchyma

Parenchyma is a simple tissue, which is composed of thin walled polyhedral, isodiametric living cells with sufficient cytoplasm and one or more nuclei. These tissues serve the purpose of storage, also carry out photosynthesis in young tissues of herbs and mature tissues of xerophytes but do not provide mechanical support to the plant.

Collenchyma is simple living tissue with thick non lignified walls that provide mechanical support and tensile strength to the growing organs and is present in organ that do not develop very woody. The chlorophyllous collenchyma performs photosynthesis in young stem of dicot plants.

Sclerenchymatous cell are thick walled dead lignified cells without meristematic activity, these cells lack nucleus and protoplast at their maturity and thus do not perform any physiological activities.
