$\frac{l}{d}\le 20i.e,d\ge \frac{l}{20}$

But for simply supported beam of
span > 10 m

$d\ge \frac{l}{20\left(\frac{10}{Span}\right)\times M{F}_1\times M{F}_2}$

$=\frac{18}{20\left(\frac{10}{18}\right)\times 0.85\times 1.2}$
$=1.588\simeq 1.59$
