Question

A single-phase, full bridge fully controlled converter is feeding a load of resistance 10 Ω in series with large inductance. The converter has 230 V, 50 Hz, sinusoidal supply connected to it with the help of cables having negligible resistance and total inductance of 2.28 mH. The average load current in Amperes when thyristors are fired at α=45° will be (up to 2 decimal places).

Solution

For 1ϕ bridge controlled converter
At α=45°, R=10Ω

When supply voltage is 230V, 50 Hz

Ls=2.28mH

V0=2Vmπcosα4flsI0
I0R=2Vmπcosα4flsI0
I0(10)=2×230×2πcos45°4×50×2.28×103I0
I0(10.456)=146.42
I0=146.4210.456=14.003 A
