A recessive trait is expressed only in homozygous state in diploids as its effect is masked by presence of dominant allele in the heterozygous condition. Autosomes are the chromosomes other than sex chromosomes which are present in pairs; thus to express a recessive trait, they should carry its two copies on both homologous chromosomes. This makes options A and B wrong. Females have two copies of X-chromosomes and thus, need two copies of a recessive allele to express the trait; option C is wrong. Human male is hemizygous for X-chromosome as it carries one X- and one Y-chromosome as sex chromosomes.
