Given, a=0.14 mm ; D=2 m ; y=1.6 cm

In single slit diffraction, the condition for minima is,

asinθ=nλ

Here, sinθ=yD

ayD=nλ

λ=ayDn

Substituting the data gives,

λ=1.6×102×0.14×1032×2 [ n=2]

=5.6×107 m=5600 ˚A
