A six storey building with floors numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, houses different individuals viz. A, B, C, D and E. Floor number 3 is empty. On which floor does A live?
I. C lives on an even numbered floor. A lives on a storey exactly above C's floor.
II. B lives on an even numbered floor. B's floor is not immediately above or immediately beneath the empty floor. One of the individuals lives in the middle of B and C's floors. D lives immediately beneath E's floor.
If the data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question
From Statement I, C lives on an even numbered floor and A lives on floor immediately above C's floor. Also, floor 3 is vacant. So, it is obvious that C lives on 4th floor and A lives on 5th floor.
Hence, Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question.
From Statement II,
Clearly, A lives on 5th floor.
Hence, Statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question.
So, either Statement I or II alone are sufficient to answer the question.
