Given:
u=40 cm; f=30 cm
[since object size is very small]

Applying the mirror formula,
1v+1u=1f, we have

1v+140=130

v=120 cm

Further, applying magnification formula,
m=vu=(120)(40)=3

For small size of object (ab), Longitudinal magnification will be m2=9

Hence, Image length
LI=m2LO=(9)(1 mm)=9 mm
