Solution

Finding the cost price for A

Let CP of the article for A be x

A sold it to B at 2.5% profit

SPforB=(100+2.5)x100=1.025x

B sold the same to C at a loss of 10%

SPforB=(100-10)100×(1.025x)=0.90×1.025x=0.9225x

We know that C paid 9.90

0.9225x=9.90x=9.900.9225x=10.73

Hence cost price for A =10.73
