Question

A solid composed of a cylinder with hemispherical ends on both the sides.
The radius and height of the cylinder are 20 cm and 30 cm respectively. Find the total surface area of solid. (Take π = 3.14)

Open in App
Solution

Radius of the cylinder = Radius of each hemisphere =r=20 cm
Height of cylinder, h=35 cm
T.S.A. of the solid
= C.S.A. of the cylinder + 2 × C.S.A. of the hemisphere
=2πrh+2×2πr2
=2πr(h+2r)
=2×3.14×20(35+2×20)
=125.6×75
=9,420cm2
Total surface area of the given solid is 9,420 cm2
