Solution

Step 1: Given data

mass (m)=0.15kg

the temperature change from 10°C to 90°C

Sp. heat capacity(c)=390Jkg-1°C-1

heat absorbed=?

Step 2: calculating the heat absorbed

Rise in temperature(θR)=(90-10)°C=80°C

Now, heat absorbed=mcθR

=0.15kg×390Jkg-1°C-1×80°C=4680J

The heat absorbed by the solid is 4680J.
