Solution

Let the radius of the sphere be R cm.

Dimension of the cuboid =49 cm×33 cm×24 cm.

Volume of cuboid =49×33×24 cm3=38808 cm3

Volume of sphere =43πR3

Since, the solid piece of iron in the cuboidal form is moulded into a sphere,

∴ Volume of sphere = Volume of cuboid

43πR3=38808 cm343×227×R3=388088821×R3=38808R3=388088821R3=38808×2188R3=9261R=39261=321×21×21R=21 cm

Thus, the radius of sphere is 21 cm.
